A DREAM FOR THE DREAM TEAM
After a poor outing at the London 2012 Olympics with no medal, the Team Nigeria set out for the Rio 2016 Olympics (of course with a few games to compete in), with a view to having a better outing.
After all the athletes representing Team Nigeria crashed out, only the Dream Team VI (Nigeria's soccer team) kept our dream of winning a medal alive. Despite being globally acknowledged as being unprepared and poorly funded, our Dream Team pressed on until they met a brick wall in Germany at the semifinals.
Thankfully, they (Dream Team) were able to clinch bronze in the tournament thereby making our Olympic dream come true even though we didn't get the gold.
One complaint that most athletes had was inadequate preparation. Stating here that adequate preparation should be made in order to avoid a repeat of what has happened would be merely repeating what most analysts have already said. But what can we do? There have been enough recommendations, it is high time action is taken. Why would our Dream Team arrive just five hours before their match? I wonder when we will learn.
Congrats to our Dream Team!
