MUGABE'S DEATH RUMOURS
Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe, has been increasingly on the media due to his health condition.
There have been insinuations that he is dead. However, he has always debunked such claims. The most recent one was this week when he made an usual trip to Dubai. He returned to Zimbabwe and jokingly said “Yes, I was dead. It’s true I was dead. I resurrected as I always do once I get back to my country. I am real again”.
The 92 year old ruler has earned the title of "world's oldest head of state". He has ruled Zimbabwe for over three decades with an iron fist. He has conducted and won questionable elections. He has also amended the constitution to enable him remain in power. The frequent death rumours prove one point- people are tired of him and his government. He has paid his dues and should retire. People at his age retire from less stressful jobs. His health condition is deteriorating. If he must contest, Zimbabweans should have free and fair elections. He started off as a revolutionary against colonialism. Now, he is doing what colonialists do (but with a white skin). He has run down Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is in a very precarious situation. Democratically, it is low. Economically, it is weak. It is one of the poorest nations on earth. It is better he steps down now that he's still alive so that a structure for continuity can be laid down rather than dying in office and leaving Zimbabwe in confusion. Democracy is meant for the people, not one man alone.

It baffles me as to why there has not been a real revolt against his government by the citizens of Zimbabwe.
