ON THE SYRIA CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT

The United States of America (USA) and Russia once again reached a ceasefire agreement on Syria whereby the opposition fighters (backed by the USA) and the Syrian government fighters (backed by Russia) would stop fighting as from Monday (today).
This is to enable aid to reach stranded civilians. More importantly, it is to enable both sides (Russia and the USA) unite in the fight against ISIL, a terrorist group.
This is a welcome development. Terrorism is a global scourge that has done so much damage. ISIL is the personification of terrorism today. They are enemies of peace and those who love peace. Despite our differences, we must unite against terrorism and its entirety. Since ISIL is concentrated in Syria (and Iraq), eliminating them from Syria would go a long way in weakening the group. It could also lead to an eventual end of the war in Syria if properly handled. It is hoped that this ceasefire agreement will be respected by all sides.
